The headmaster of Government Primary School, Talab ki Dhani, in Hingota village of Gangapur City tehsil, Rajasthan, has been suspended by the education department. This action follows accusations of non-vegetarian food being prepared on school premises. A preliminary inquiry raised suspicions about the headmaster’s conduct, but a subsequent inspection revealed only potato and cauliflower curry in the school kitchen, refuting claims of meat cooking.
The controversy stemmed from a viral video suggesting the headmaster allowed students a holiday without authorization and food was cooked at the school. Allegations included the preparation of meat and rotis while the headmaster was reportedly intoxicated outside the premises. Villagers alleged that the school gate was locked from inside, and students were dismissed during the incident.
In response to the situation, a three-member inquiry committee, including Vijay Sankhla, Jitendra Lodha, and Kapil Sharma, was formed by the education department. The committee visited the school, gathered statements from villagers, the headmaster, the cook, and other relevant individuals, and collected evidence on-site. The inquiry findings will be presented to higher authorities for review.
During the inspection, the committee discovered potato and cauliflower curry in the kitchen. The cook, Indraj, clarified that only vegetable curry and rotis were prepared on the day in question, denying any non-vegetarian cooking. He explained that due to poor lighting, other items were not visible during the incident.
Amar Singh Meena, the suspended headmaster, faced doubts about his role in the preliminary inquiry, as confirmed by Sawai Madhopur District Education Officer Devilal Meena. Meena’s suspension dictates his presence at the office of the Chief Block Education Officer, Samagra Shiksha, Sawai Madhopur, during this period. Meena refuted the allegations, stating the school was not officially closed and that food was arranged by a family for a Ramlila event in the village. He claimed ignorance about the kitchen activities.
The education department emphasized that further steps will be taken based on the detailed report from the inquiry committee.
