The Health Department in Ramban district, Jammu and Kashmir, has boosted the ‘Anaemia Mukt Bharat’ campaign through a special awareness and training program. ASHA workers and female health staff were educated on effective strategies to prevent and manage anaemia among women and children. Trained doctors highlighted the importance of early identification, prevention, and management of anaemia, emphasizing the vital role of ASHA workers in community outreach.
Medical experts emphasized the need for ASHA workers to regularly visit their designated areas, raise awareness, detect anaemia cases early, and provide proper guidance and follow-up. The initiative’s goal is to enhance interventions at the grassroots level to make Ramban district anaemia-free. Dr. Reyaz mentioned ongoing efforts under the campaign, focusing on addressing identified gaps and initiating grassroots-level work.
Dr. Reyaz also noted that ASHA workers would administer Iron Folic Acid syrup to children aged six months to five years, with close monitoring and record-keeping. Mothers will eventually be encouraged to administer the syrup themselves once adequately informed. Additionally, pink tablets will be given to children aged five to nine years, and blue tablets to those aged ten to nineteen years. Dr. Ankula briefed ASHA workers on the ‘Anaemia Mukt Bharat’ program, emphasizing door-to-door visits and proper medicine distribution to children.
This campaign underscores the Health Department’s dedication to combating anaemia in Ramban district through awareness, early detection, and sustained community-level intervention.
