More than 97 lakh domestic LPG cylinders were delivered in the past two days, surpassing bookings of around 87.66 lakh cylinders. Online bookings for cooking gas have surged to 99%, as reported by the Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas. The supply of domestic LPG remains stable, with 95% of deliveries authenticated through mobile codes to prevent diversion at the distributor level.
Around 1.11 lakh small 5 kg LPG cylinders were also sold recently, with public sector oil companies conducting over 10,700 camps to raise awareness about these cylinders used by migrant workers. Additionally, more than 15,493 metric tonnes of commercial LPG were sold in the same period, equivalent to over 8.15 lakh 19 kg LPG cylinders.
A committee comprising Executive Directors of IOCL, HPCL, and BPCL, in collaboration with state authorities and industry bodies, finalizes the commercial LPG sales plan. The Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas has reported gasification of 6.5 lakh PNG connections, with infrastructure in place for an additional 2.66 lakh connections, totaling 9.16 lakh connections.
Enforcement actions are ongoing nationwide to prevent hoarding and black marketing of LPG, with over 2,000 raids conducted recently. Public sector oil companies are conducting surprise inspections and penalizing errant LPG distributorships.
Retail prices for petrol and diesel remain stable despite global oil price fluctuations, with ample stocks available at all public sector oil company outlets. The Ministry is ensuring uninterrupted availability of petroleum products and LPG across the country, despite challenges like the closure of the Strait of Hormuz.
Citizens are urged to avoid panic buying of petrol, diesel, and LPG, rely on official sources for information, and use digital booking platforms for LPG. Refineries are operating at full capacity with adequate crude inventories, and local LPG production has been boosted to meet domestic demand.
