Himachal Pradesh Town and Country Planning Minister Rajesh Dharmani stated that the Him-Chandigarh project is acquiring land through mutual agreement or land pooling. Additionally, a riverfront development project along the Sirsa River is in progress with a focus on environmental conservation. The projects by the Himachal Pradesh Housing and Urban Development Authority (HIMUDA) aim to address housing needs and create new revenue sources for the state.
Efforts are being made to promote planned development in Himachal Pradesh amidst rapid urbanization. Projects like Him-Chandigarh, Him Panchkula, and Kangra Valley Aero City are being pursued to establish future-ready urban centers. These initiatives aim to foster balanced regional development and alleviate urbanization pressures in the state. Minister Dharmani highlighted the encouragement of innovation across various sectors in Himachal Pradesh.
Under the HIMUDA Start-Up and Student Innovation Policy, young entrepreneurs can receive funding of up to Rs 5 lakh per proposal. This policy seeks to cultivate a robust innovation and start-up ecosystem, driving economic growth and creating job opportunities in the state. The government is exploring funding opportunities for disaster management-related start-ups considering the state’s geographical conditions.
Minister Dharmani emphasized the significance of information technology and announced the introduction of an integrated digital platform under HIMUDA’s e-initiative model. This platform will offer online services such as allotment, e-drawing, and e-auction to stakeholders. HIMUDA is committed to enhancing project delivery by focusing on capacity building through officer and staff training, along with the engagement of experts from diverse fields.
