Animesh Bhargave, a Hindu member of Madhya Pradesh’s reconstituted Waqf Board committee, highlighted the focus on transparency and efficiency. The Board aims to enhance the utilization of Waqf properties, prevent income losses, and support marginalized groups within the minority community. Bhargave stressed the need to address issues like underutilization of properties and unauthorized occupation to boost revenue.
Critics’ concerns about the appointment of non-Muslim members were addressed by Bhargave, who emphasized the government’s intention to promote transparency. He expressed the need to rectify the misuse of properties and enhance revenue generation. Bhargave, designated as an expert and advisor, aims to contribute to preventing income leakages within the Board.
Bhargave and Manoj Malpani, the two non-Muslim members of the MP Waqf Board, faced controversy over their appointments. Bhargave defended their inclusion, citing compliance with laws allowing non-Muslim members. Madhya Pradesh, the first state to reconstitute its Waqf Board under the Waqf Amendment Act, 2025, aims to streamline operations and ensure socio-economic objectives are met through these properties.
