Hindu saints and former litigant in the Ram Janmbhoomi-Babri Masjid case, Iqbal Ansari, have expressed their approval of the Uttar Pradesh government’s decision to reconstitute the Special Investigation Team (SIT) following a Supreme Court order regarding alleged misappropriation of donations at the Ram Temple.
Jagadguru Paramhans Acharya of Tapaswi Chhawani, speaking to media, expressed gratitude to the apex court for the SIT’s restructuring, believing it will help restore the image of the Ram Temple and maintain the sanctity of the temple town.
Saint Varun Das also welcomed the formation of the new SIT, emphasizing the importance of a thorough and transparent investigation into the embezzlement allegations to satisfy Lord Ram’s devotees.
Former litigant Iqbal Ansari praised the committee formation for Ayodhya, urging the government to ensure diligent oversight and management to prevent negligence. He highlighted the committee’s local composition, enhancing its understanding of Ayodhya’s functioning and called for devotees to trust the investigation process.
The reconstituted SIT, led by Inspector General Kiran S, includes Ayodhya Deputy Inspector General of Police Somen Verma and Ayodhya Senior Superintendent of Police Gaurav Grover. This decision follows a Supreme Court directive to set up a new SIT under the leadership of a senior IPS officer, with a status report due on July 27.
