Hindu seers have come to the defense of Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s recent comments on “love jihad” and “dharmshala.” Adityanath’s remarks, made during the ‘Shri Ram Katha Mahotsav,’ sparked a political controversy. He emphasized the need to halt activities akin to land jihad and stressed that India’s land should not be a sanctuary for those who disrespect its traditions.
Supporting Adityanath’s stance, Mahant Sitaram Das Maharaj of Ayodhya’s Saket Bhavan temple affirmed that India is not a place for those who do not cherish its culture and traditions. He emphasized that individuals engaging in appeasement politics will not be tolerated. Swami Jitendranand Saraswati, National General Secretary of Akhil Bharatiya Sant Samiti, echoed this sentiment by backing Adityanath’s views on “land jihad.”
In contrast, Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav criticized Adityanath’s statements, highlighting the importance of love and unity promoted by ‘Sanatan Dharma.’ Yadav emphasized that the essence of ‘Sanatan Dharma’ lies in fostering brotherhood and friendship among people. He expressed concerns over the CM’s remarks and urged for a more truthful approach in governance.
