The district administration in Meghalaya’s East Khasi Hills will launch a month-long house-to-house verification drive for the electoral roll starting June 30. Deputy Commissioner Abhilash Barnwal encouraged citizens to participate in this Election Commission of India’s Special Intensive Revision initiative without hesitation. Booth Level Officers will distribute pre-filled self-enumeration forms to voters across 1,021 polling stations in the district.
The final revised electoral roll is set to be released on October 7. During the initial enumeration process, voters are only required to submit their completed self-enumeration forms without any supporting documents. Barnwal emphasized that most electors will be covered through these forms, with only a few cases potentially needing additional clarification and supporting documents.
To address public worries, the Deputy Commissioner assured that all forms of supporting documents, beyond the Election Commission’s indicative list of 11 documents, will be accepted by Booth Level Officers. The aim of this revision exercise is to create an inclusive and transparent electoral roll, ensuring no eligible voter is excluded. Barnwal urged citizens to cooperate and not be afraid of the process, emphasizing the administration’s readiness to assist at every step.
