As violence persists in Balochistan, human rights organizations revealed the extrajudicial killing of Ahmed Ali Baloch in a landmine blast on July 19. The Baloch Yakjehti Committee highlighted the tragic incident, emphasizing the ongoing human toll of violence in the region. The deteriorating security situation in Balochistan has led to enforced disappearances, extrajudicial killings, and the presence of state-backed armed groups, causing immense suffering to civilians.
The Baloch Yakjehti Committee called for an independent investigation into Ahmed’s death and other similar incidents, urging the dismantling of state-sponsored death squads and the removal of landmines from civilian areas. Additionally, the Baloch National Movement’s Human Rights Department condemned the enforced disappearances of Saddam Hussain and Moaiz Jan from Awaran district. Reports suggest that Pakistani security agencies were involved in their disappearances, leaving their families in anguish without any official information.
The practice of enforced disappearances in Balochistan violates fundamental human rights, including liberty, security, due process, and protection from arbitrary detention. Paank emphasized the grave human rights crisis this represents, as the concealment of individuals’ whereabouts exposes them to risks of torture and psychological trauma for their families.
