Hyderabad Disaster Response and Asset Protection Agency (HYDRAA) safeguarded government land valued at Rs. 1,000 crore in the IT Corridor and a pond on the city outskirts by removing encroachments. In Khanamet village of Serilingampally mandal, five acres of government land were rescued by HYDRAA from encroachment.
HYDRAA intervened in Survey No. 42, where attempts were made to acquire land illegally between Metal Charminar and HITEX Exhibition Centre. Temporary sheds and a room were constructed on the land, prompting HYDRAA’s action following a complaint from the revenue department.
The agency, responding to a complaint, removed encroachments on government land claimed by Serilingampally revenue officials for years. Two temporary sheds, a constructed room, and fencing were taken down by HYDRAA, which then fenced the area, estimating the land’s value at Rs. 1,000 crore.
In a separate operation, HYDRAA cleared encroachments at Marripalli pond in Abdullahpurmet mandal. An encroacher had set up an RMC unit and constructed sheds on the pond’s land, attempting to encroach five acres. Acting on a public complaint, HYDRAA removed the sheds, erected fencing, and ordered the encroacher to clear the dumped silt from the pond.
According to Hyderabad Metropolitan Development Authority (HMDA) records, the Marripalli pond spans 31.05 acres, with HYDRAA taking steps to safeguard the water body. HYDRAA recently announced the successful protection of public assets worth over Rs. 1.10 lakh crore in less than two years, aiming to reach a Rs. 2 lakh crore milestone within the next year.
The agency highlighted its efforts in reclaiming and safeguarding lakes, nalas, parks, government lands, and blue-green resources threatened by encroachments and land-grabbing activities, ensuring their preservation for future generations.
