Sharmistha Mukherjee, daughter of former President Pranab Mukherjee, commended Prime Minister Narendra Modi for providing stability and progress amidst global uncertainties. She highlighted Modi’s leadership since being named the BJP’s Prime Ministerial candidate in 2014, emphasizing his success in establishing a strong and stable government over the past 12 years. Mukherjee acknowledged Modi’s role in ensuring stability, contrasting it with the challenges faced by previous coalition governments in India.

Reflecting on the uniqueness of Modi’s candidacy in 2013, Mukherjee noted the shift from traditional parliamentary practices in Congress to a declared Prime Ministerial face in Modi. She emphasized the significance of Modi’s victory in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, describing it as a personal mandate for him and underscoring his impact on national politics. Mukherjee refrained from labeling Modi as the strongest politician of independent India, stating that every Prime Minister contributes uniquely to the country’s progress.

Mukherjee praised Modi’s initiatives such as Digital India, citing advancements in digitizing the Indian economy and enabling online transactions even in remote areas. She lauded Modi’s governance during global uncertainties, acknowledging criticisms while emphasizing his commendable efforts. Mukherjee concluded by highlighting the diverse contributions of each Prime Minister to the nation’s development, emphasizing the need for historical judgment based on individual strengths and weaknesses.
