Hyderabad police have apprehended two individuals involved in an inter-state robbery where they looted Rs. 6 lakh from a businessman by using firearms on January 31. The Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), Task Force, Gaikwad Vaibhav Raghunath, disclosed that the arrested offenders, both from Uttar Pradesh, committed the crime near the SBI ATM at Koti branch in Hyderabad. They forcibly held the victim, attacked him with a locally made firearm, and stole the money.
The arrested suspects are identified as Furkhan Ahmed, aged 36, from Saharanpur, UP, and Taiyyab Tyagi, aged 30, a cab driver from Shaheen Nagar, Hyderabad, and originally from Muzaffarnagar district in UP. The police confiscated a locally made pistol, 35 live rounds, two magazines, Rs 2.38 lakh in cash, and two mobile phones from the culprits. Five other suspects from UP, including Faheem Ahmed, Naushad, Abid, Danish Tyagi, and Mohd Matlub, are currently on the run.
Authorities from the Commissioner’s Task Force, Secunderabad Zone, Khairatabad Zone, and Sultan Bazar police collaborated to arrest the offenders. Furkhan Ahmed has a criminal record in eight cases in UP, while Taiyyab Tyagi has one case against him. The police revealed that Taiyyab Tyagi, the cab driver, observed passengers depositing large sums of money at ATM machines during his early morning rides and devised a plan to rob them.
Taiyyab Tyagi, along with accomplices, executed the robbery plan on January 31 at the SBI ATM in Koti, where they threatened the victim with a firearm, shot at him, and fled with his cash and vehicle. After the crime, the culprits gathered at Shaheen Nagar, Chandrayangutta, counted the stolen money, and dispersed to their respective hometowns. Six special teams were formed to investigate the case, leading to the arrest of two suspects near Shaheen Nagar.
