Hyderabad police took action against tainted food by confiscating 12 tonnes of sheep and goat offal valued at Rs 10 lakh from a stall in Mangalhat. The raid, conducted by the Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda team, along with H-FAST and Mangalhat Police, led to the arrest of the store manager, Rafi Ahmed.
The seized offal, including paya, head, brain, kidney, and liver, was found to be procured illegally at low prices from the wholesale market and stored in unhygienic conditions. The accused stored the meat for extended periods in deep freezers and plastic tubs filled with stagnant water, posing a threat to public health.
A case has been filed under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita at Mangalhat Police Station. In a separate incident, the Commissioner’s Task Force, Golconda team, in collaboration with Tappachabutra Police, apprehended Syed Khadeer for unauthorized production of bakery goods in unsanitary conditions at Natraj Nagar, Jhirra.
