The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the schedule for the Women’s T20I Challenge Trophy in Rwanda. Starting on April 19 and concluding on May 2, the tournament will be held in Kigali city at The Gahanga Cricket Stadium’s two grounds. Italy will face host Rwanda on the opening day, with Nepal playing against the USA, and Vanuatu having a bye before their match against Rwanda on April 19.
The tournament, a new addition by the ICC, aims to showcase Associate Member teams. It features the top-ranked team from each of the ICC’s five regions that did not qualify for the Emerging Nations Trophy. The event, running until May 2, follows a double round-robin format to offer a high-quality match experience and enhance opportunities in international cricket.
Nepal and the USA, both strong contenders, enter the tournament after competing in the recent Global Qualifier. Nepal, ranked 21st in the ICC Women’s T20I Team Rankings, is the highest-ranked team in the competition. Vanuatu, currently ranked 30th, secured their spot after an impressive performance in the East Asia-Pacific Qualifier last year.
