After Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar filed his nomination for the Rajya Sabha election, political activity in Patna has surged. Meetings have commenced within the National Democratic Alliance following this development. Bihar’s Deputy Chief Minister and senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Samrat Choudhary recently visited the Chief Minister’s residence for a closed-door meeting that lasted about 25 minutes.
The timing of this meeting has attracted significant attention, especially amidst speculations regarding the state’s future leadership. Observers suggest that the discussions likely focused on upcoming strategies, potential leadership transitions, and the formation of a new government. Despite not addressing the media post-meeting, Samrat Choudhary’s swift departure hinted at the gravity of the discussions held.
Following Choudhary’s departure, Bihar’s second Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha also visited the Chief Minister’s residence, further fueling political speculations. Sources indicate that Nitish Kumar is engaging in consultations with senior BJP leaders to chart the future political trajectory. The series of meetings indicate ongoing deliberations on a potential power transition.
Nitish Kumar has scheduled a meeting with Janata Dal (United) legislators later in the day. Party spokesperson Neeraj Kumar, who is also a Member of the Legislative Council (MLC), mentioned that Nitish Kumar would elucidate the reasons behind his Rajya Sabha nomination during this meeting. Additionally, MLAs and MPs will have the opportunity to express their perspectives. Neeraj Kumar highlighted that Nitish Kumar’s resignation as Chief Minister would pose a significant challenge not only for the JD(U) but also for the National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
In the midst of these developments, Nitish Kumar’s brother-in-law Anil Kumar alleged that party workers were pointing fingers at some senior JD(U) leaders for the current situation. He specifically named Sanjay Kumar Jha and Rajiv Ranjan Singh alias Lalan Singh, insinuating a potential conspiracy behind recent events. Speculations had been rife for days about Nitish Kumar’s potential move to the Rajya Sabha, and his nomination has further fueled these speculations.
