Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal emphasized the importance of deepening economic cooperation between India and Canada. Speaking in Toronto alongside Canadian Minister of International Trade Maninder Sidhu, Goyal highlighted the significant opportunities for growth and complementarity between the two nations.
Goyal underlined the strong foundation of trust and mutual confidence that exists between India and Canada. He stressed the need for long-term engagement and trust-building, likening the relationship to a marriage that requires nurturing and strengthening over time.
The two countries have been exploring avenues to enhance bilateral trade and investment ties, with discussions on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) playing a crucial role. Both India and Canada have vested interests in sectors such as energy, technology, education, agriculture, and critical minerals.
Goyal invited Canadian businesses and industry leaders to actively participate in India’s growth story, emphasizing the potential for the proposed CEPA to serve as a key catalyst in expanding economic relations between the two nations.
