He criticized Pakistan for conducting air strikes on Afghanistan during Ramadan, labeling it as hypocrisy despite claiming to uphold international law and Islamic solidarity.
Pakistan’s air strikes during Ramadan were condemned for causing civilian casualties, with India echoing the Secretary-General’s concerns about the harm inflicted. The report highlighted civilian deaths and injuries in Afghanistan, attributing most casualties to air strikes and cross-border firing. Notably, an air strike on a Kabul hospital resulted in numerous casualties, emphasizing the devastating impact of such actions.
India reiterated its support for the Secretary-General’s call for compliance with international law and protection of civilians in conflict zones. The country also backed UNAMA’s efforts to investigate incidents, ensure accountability, and uphold victims’ rights in Afghanistan. India stressed the significance of UNAMA’s mandate in promoting peace and stability in Afghanistan amid challenging circumstances.
