India has updated its advisory for its citizens, recommending that non-essential travel to Iran should still be avoided despite recent improvements in the country’s security situation. The Indian Embassy in Tehran highlighted that while there have been positive developments in Iran, it is best for Indian nationals to refrain from unnecessary trips to the region for the time being.
The embassy emphasized the need for caution, advising Indian citizens residing in Iran or those with essential reasons to travel there to remain vigilant and maintain awareness of their surroundings. It also stressed the importance of staying informed through reliable sources and adhering to local authorities’ directives.
Furthermore, Indian nationals in Iran or planning to visit were urged to register their details with the Indian Embassy in Tehran promptly. The advisory also included contact information for emergency assistance provided by the Embassy.
In recent news, US President Donald Trump and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian signed a memorandum of understanding remotely on June 17 to extend a ceasefire for 60 days to facilitate negotiations on Iran’s nuclear program and regional security matters. India welcomed this agreement, emphasizing the significance of dialogue and diplomacy for peace in the region and the uninterrupted flow of global commerce through the Strait of Hormuz.
