External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and Japanese counterpart Toshimitsu Motegi co-chaired the 18th India-Japan Strategic Dialogue in New Delhi, focusing on economic, maritime, supply chain, critical mineral, technology, P2P, and multilateral cooperation. Jaishankar highlighted the positive trajectory of the India-Japan Special Strategic and Global Partnership, stating its potential to influence the global order and stabilize the international economy. Discussions encompassed various areas of collaboration reflecting shared interests and mutual understanding, including Indo-Pacific affairs and global developments.
During the dialogue, Jaishankar expressed India’s strong commitment to collaborating with Japan in international forums like the Quad, the United Nations, and the G20. He underscored the transformation of the bilateral relationship into a comprehensive and strategic partnership over the past two decades. Emphasizing the significance of shared strategic objectives, Jaishankar welcomed Motegi and emphasized the role of both countries as leading democracies and major global economies.
Looking ahead, Jaishankar highlighted the upcoming 75th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Japan in 2027, affirming the continuous growth of the special, strategic, and global partnership between the two nations.
