India has been honored as the ‘Country of the Year’ at BIOFACH 2026, the renowned organic products trade fair in Nuremberg, Germany, from February 10-13. The Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA) is spearheading India’s participation at the event with a significant presence. This year’s Indian showcase at BIOFACH 2026 signifies a substantial increase compared to past editions, showcasing the country’s expanding organic exports and rising global demand for such products.
The India Country Pavilion, managed by APEDA, will cover an area of 1,074 square meters and will host 67 co-exhibitors, including organic product exporters, Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs), cooperatives, and more. The pavilion will exhibit a diverse array of organic goods like rice, oilseeds, spices, pulses, cashew, ginger, and essential oils, among others. Exhibitors from over 20 Indian states and union territories are participating in the pavilion, reflecting the nation’s rich agricultural diversity.
This participation underscores India’s focus on region-specific organic produce and value-added food items, showcasing its consistent growth in international organic trade. Visitors to the India Pavilion can enjoy curated food tastings featuring Indian organic products’ flavors and aromas. Additionally, they can sample aromatic biryani made from premium organic basmati rice and spices. The event will also highlight five Geographical Indication (GI)-tagged rice varieties to showcase India’s heritage rice diversity.
APEDA has initiated extensive branding and promotional activities at key locations within the Nuremberg Messe Exhibition Centre to mark India’s recognition as the Country of the Year at BIOFACH 2026. India’s selection as the Country of the Year at BIOFACH 2026 underscores its global leadership in organic agriculture, aligning with the increasing global focus on sustainability and eco-friendly practices.
