India has announced a 15-member squad led by Harmanpreet Kaur for the upcoming T20I series against South Africa, starting on April 17. Anushka Sharma has received her first call-up to the team. The series will kick off with two matches in Durban, followed by games in Johannesburg and Benoni.
Anushka, a 22-year-old all-rounder from Gujarat Giants, earned her spot after an impressive performance in the WPL 2026. She was a key player in the Indian team’s victory at the Rising Stars Women’s Asia Cup. Bharti Fulmali, who made a comeback during the Australia tour, has also been included in the squad to strengthen the middle order.
The touring party will see the addition of fast bowler Kashvee Gautam, enhancing India’s seam department alongside Renuka Thakur and Arundhati Reddy. However, spin-bowling all-rounder Sneh Rana, Vaishnavi Sharma, and Amanjot Kaur have been left out of the squad.
This T20I series will serve as preparation for the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2026, set to begin on June 12 in England. The series will mark the first meeting between the two teams since India defeated South Africa in the ICC Women’s Cricket World Cup 2025 final.
South Africa and India, along with Australia, Pakistan, and two teams from the qualifiers, are in the same group for the upcoming T20 World Cup.
