India-Russia Discuss Cooperation in Maritime, Shipbuilding, and Education Sectors

India and Russia explored collaboration in maritime, shipbuilding, and education sectors during a meeting between Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel and Russian Federation’s Consul General Ivan Fetisov in Gandhinagar. The talks aimed to enhance bilateral engagement, focusing on areas like maritime infrastructure and industrial cooperation. The Russian Consul General expressed interest in deeper ties with Gujarat and highlighted Russia’s involvement in key summits in the region.

The Chief Minister emphasized Gujarat’s strategic maritime position and its significant role in national trade logistics, with 40% of India’s cargo handling passing through the state’s ports. He also highlighted Gujarat’s advancements in ship recycling, shipbuilding, and the establishment of educational institutions like the Gujarat Maritime University. The meeting saw discussions on future collaboration opportunities and invitations extended for participation in business summits in both countries.

Both sides agreed to further dialogue to explore practical avenues for cooperation in the identified sectors, emphasizing the potential for mutual growth and development through continued engagement and partnership initiatives.
