The Ambassador of India to Mongolia organized a lunch at the Embassy Residence for Buddhist monks and senior delegates visiting Mongolia. This visit is part of a delegation presenting the Holy Relics of Lord Buddha’s two Chief Disciples in the country. The relics, revered as Head of State, were brought to Ulaanbaatar for a 10-day exposition at the Gandan Tegchenling Monastery during Mongolian Buddha Purnima.
The relics were flown in from New Delhi to Ulaanbaatar via a special Indian Air Force flight. Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya led a high-level delegation accompanying the relics. The delegation, comprising around 45 members, includes senior officials and esteemed monks from India and Sri Lanka. The International Buddhist Confederation is actively participating in organizing this significant exposition.
The Mahabodhi Society of Sri Lanka, the National Museum of India, and the Government of Madhya Pradesh collaborated to bring the relics to Mongolia at the request of the Gandan Tegchenling Monastery. India and Mongolia, being strategic partners with deep Buddhist connections, view this exposition as an opportunity for Mongolian Buddhists to honor Lord Buddha’s chief disciples.
