India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram K. Doraiswami, engaged with students at Beijing Foreign Studies University, praising their proficiency in Indian languages like Tamil, Hindi, Bengali, and Sanskrit. The Ambassador also learned about the university’s teaching of languages such as Pali, Punjabi, and Urdu during a meeting with BFSU President Jia Wenjian, who highlighted the institution’s expertise in over 100 foreign languages.
Ambassador Doraiswami delivered a lecture titled ‘Bridging Civilisations through Language and Learning,’ emphasizing the historical significance of language studies and cultural exchanges between India and China spanning centuries. He underscored the mutual benefits derived from sharing knowledge, philosophy, and innovations, citing historical interactions that enriched both societies.
