India’s Ambassador to Oman, Prashant Pise, met with 20 Indian crew members of MT Jalveer in Muscat before their repatriation to India. The Indian Embassy in Oman stated that the crew was safely evacuated with the coordination of Omani authorities. The Embassy affirmed its commitment to assisting Indian nationals in distress and ensuring their well-being and safe return home.
On June 11, the Indian Embassy in Oman mentioned efforts to evacuate Indian nationals from MT Jalveer to Shinas Port with the support of the Royal Navy of Oman. Additional Secretary, Ministry of Ports, Shipping and Waterways, Mukesh Mangal, confirmed the safety of all 20 Indian seafarers on board MT Jalveer after an attack near the Shinas port in Oman. India expressed concerns over disruptions to commercial shipping and emphasized the importance of secure navigation in international waters in accordance with the law.
During an Inter-Ministerial briefing on recent West Asia developments, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal highlighted India’s priority on the safety of Indian seafarers. Jaiswal condemned attacks on shipping in West Asia, calling for dialogue and diplomacy to restore peace and stability in the region. India emphasized the welfare of its seafaring community and urged an end to the attacks on shipping, linking them to the ongoing conflict in the region.
