Indian Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi recently oversaw the Passing Out Parade of the 150th Course at the National Defence Academy (NDA) in Khadakwasla, Pune. The ceremony marked the commissioning of 355 cadets into the Indian Armed Forces. General Dwivedi, an alumnus of the NDA, emphasized the enduring impact of the Academy on his life and career.
The Passing Out Parade, held at the Khetarpal Parade Ground, showcased the cadets’ military precision and discipline as they prepared to join the Indian Army, Indian Navy, and Indian Air Force. General Dwivedi, addressing the cadets, reflected on his own journey at the Academy and highlighted the importance of the values instilled by the institution.
General Dwivedi also acknowledged the cadets from 12 friendly foreign nations who graduated alongside their Indian peers. He emphasized the significance of fostering bonds and values that transcend national boundaries for maintaining peace and cooperation among nations.
Referring to the evolving security landscape, General Dwivedi cautioned the young officers about the changing nature of warfare and the challenges they would face in a rapidly evolving strategic environment. He highlighted the importance of sharp thinking and precise action in response to contemporary security threats.
The Army Chief mentioned ‘Operation Sindoor’ as an example of India’s firm and precise response to challenges, setting a benchmark for national resolve and precision in addressing provocations. He stressed that the principles taught at the NDA, including jointness and integrated training, were crucial for responding effectively to modern security challenges.
General Dwivedi advised the graduating cadets to maintain a hunger for learning throughout their careers, emphasizing the importance of continuous self-improvement. He identified attitude, adaptability, and ability as key qualities that would shape their future as officers and leaders, urging them to nurture these qualities with discipline and courage.
