India’s Chief of Army Staff, General Upendra Dwivedi, visited the Army War College in Sri Lanka. During the visit, he interacted with Major General D K R N Silva, Commandant of the AWC. General Dwivedi also witnessed the foundation laying ceremony of the India-Sri Lanka Friendship Sports Complex and the handing over of a military ambulance to AWC.
General Dwivedi encouraged student officers to strive for professional excellence and adapt to the changing nature of modern conflict. He emphasized the importance of agility and innovative thinking in warfare. The COAS highlighted the need for preparedness across all aspects of military operations.
In discussions with Sri Lankan defense officials, General Dwivedi focused on cooperation in Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR). The talks aimed at enhancing collaboration between India and Sri Lanka in areas of mutual interest. Both sides reiterated their commitment to regional security and defense partnership.
During his visit, General Dwivedi reviewed the Guard of Honour at the Sri Lankan Army Headquarters in Colombo. He also met with Lieutenant General B K G M Lasantha Rodrigo, Commander of the Lankan Army. The discussions centered on strengthening bilateral defense cooperation and deepening military-to-military ties.
General Dwivedi also engaged with the Defense Services Command and Staff College (DSCSC) in Sri Lanka. He emphasized the role of the Armed Forces in nation-building and the integration of emerging technologies into military operations. The visit underscored the enduring friendship and defense cooperation between India and Sri Lanka.
