As part of the build-up to the 12th International Day of Yoga on June 21, the Indian Army, in collaboration with the civil administration, conducted yoga sessions in various Northeastern states. In Arunachal Pradesh’s Shi-Yomi district, troops at an altitude of nearly 9,000 feet participated in yoga sessions by Pasang Sonam Lake. The soldiers engaged in yoga postures, breathing exercises, and meditation techniques amidst the high-altitude surroundings.
The serene landscape of Pasang Sonam Lake provided an ideal backdrop for promoting physical fitness, mental resilience, inner balance, and harmony with nature. The importance of yoga as a healthy routine for soldiers in challenging terrains and remote border areas was emphasized during the session. Yoga encouraged flexibility, concentration, stress management, and a positive attitude among the troops, fostering camaraderie and collective motivation.
In Tripura, the Red Shield Division under Spear Corps organized a yoga session at the historic Ujjayanta Palace in Agartala as a precursor to the 12th International Yoga Day. The event, set against the backdrop of Ujjayanta Palace, showcased the harmony between India’s ancient yogic traditions and the cultural heritage of the Northeast. Participants engaged in yoga asanas, pranayama exercises, and meditation practices to enhance physical health, emotional stability, and resilience.
The session aimed to encourage the incorporation of yoga into daily lives as a means of achieving holistic wellness and managing stress in today’s fast-paced environment. The Indian Army’s commitment to fostering wellness, social cohesion, and cultural integration through community-oriented activities was evident in the event. It concluded with a message of peace, harmony, and collective well-being, embodying the spirit of International Yoga Day and the enduring values of the Indian Army.
