Under the recently concluded ‘Operation Amistad,’ India’s Humanitarian Assistance and Disaster Relief (HADR) mission in response to the devastating earthquakes in Venezuela, the Indian Army’s Field Hospital conducted over 8000 medical procedures, including more than 20 major surgeries, benefiting hundreds of earthquake-affected individuals.
The Indian contingent, which included medical professionals and support staff, returned home after a successful mission, receiving gratitude from Venezuela’s Acting President Delcy Eloina Rodriguez Gomez for the timely support provided by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The operation involved transporting a medical team, essential medicines, and emergency relief supplies to Venezuela.
Expressing appreciation, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) acknowledged Venezuela’s support and cooperation during the mission, emphasizing the enduring friendship and solidarity between the two nations. The MEA highlighted India’s commitment to standing by partner countries during challenging times, in line with the ethos of Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam ‘The World Is One Family.’
A farewell ceremony at the ‘Simon Bolivar’ International Airport in La Guaira marked the conclusion of the mission, where Venezuela’s Vice Minister for International Communication thanked the Indian team and India’s Ambassador to Venezuela. Venezuela’s Minister of Foreign Affairs also extended gratitude to the Indian health professionals for their dedicated service and thanked PM Modi for the assistance provided to Venezuela.
