Artificial intelligence (AI) is reshaping Indian businesses, with 84% of C-Suite leaders acknowledging the emergence of new roles within their organizations, as per a recent report. Chief Marketing Officers (CMOs) are particularly optimistic, with 94% recognizing AI’s role in generating fresh positions, indicating its significant impact on business functions. Moreover, AI is increasingly influencing decision-making processes, with 84% of Indian C-Suite leaders incorporating AI inputs into their strategic considerations.
Nearly four in five Indian C-Suite leaders feel pressured to accelerate AI adoption without fully gauging its effects, with Chief Marketing Officers (82%) and Chief Technology Officers (81%) experiencing the most significant push. Making swift decisions amidst constant uncertainty is a major leadership challenge for 39% of senior executives, especially among CMOs (46%) and Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) (43%).
According to Kumaresh Pattabiraman, LinkedIn’s India Country Manager and VP LSS Product, Indian business leaders are facing a more demanding leadership landscape due to AI’s transformative impact. The report also reveals that Millennials represent 55% of India’s C-Suite, underscoring their dominance among senior executives. Additionally, concerns about workforce readiness persist, with 51% of Indian C-Suite leaders admitting a lack of clarity regarding future roles, skills, and capabilities needed within their organizations, a concern particularly prevalent among CMOs at 58%.
Despite these challenges, innovation remains the primary expectation from AI investments, with nearly 90% of Indian C-Suite leaders prioritizing it as the most crucial outcome.
