Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan recently met with Armenia’s Chief of the General Staff Lt General Edvard Asryan in New Delhi. The discussions between the two military officials focused on potential joint ventures in military hardware development. Lt General Asryan was warmly received by General Chauhan and honored with a Guard of Honour.
The meeting underscored the strengthening defense ties between India and Armenia. Both sides explored opportunities for collaboration in military hardware development, emphasizing their commitment to a robust strategic partnership for the future. This engagement follows a recent visit by an Indian defense delegation, led by General Chauhan, to Armenia in February.
During the visit, General Chauhan’s delegation engaged with Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan to discuss avenues for enhanced defense and strategic cooperation. The discussions highlighted the evolving geopolitical landscape and emphasized the importance of bilateral defense ties. Additionally, General Chauhan and the Indian delegation met with Armenia’s Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs to exchange views on security issues and bilateral matters.
Further discussions took place between General Chauhan and Armenia’s Defence Minister Suren Papkyan, focusing on strengthening defense cooperation across various security concerns. General Chauhan also addressed faculty and students at Armenia’s National Defence Research University, shedding light on global security dynamics, technological advancements, and the changing nature of warfare.
