Indian cricket team captains Suryakumar Yadav and Tilak Varma visited Siddhivinayak Ganapati Temple in Mumbai to seek blessings before their crucial ICC T20 World Cup 2026 semifinal against England at Wankhede Stadium. Other team members, including Axar Patel, Ishan Kishan, and Abhishek Sharma, also visited the temple for blessings ahead of the important match.
Suryakumar, accompanied by his wife Devisha, participated in rituals at the temple to gather positive energy for the upcoming encounter. The couple received felicitations from the temple authority as they geared up for the semifinal clash.
Suryakumar’s performance in the tournament started strong with a match-winning display against the USA. However, concerns arose over his strike rate. On the other hand, Tilak Varma struggled initially but showed improvement in the Zimbabwe match with a quick 44 runs. He also contributed significantly to India’s victory over the West Indies with a brisk 27 off 15 balls.
India has had a successful campaign in the World Cup, winning six out of seven matches. Their only setback was a loss to South Africa in the Super 8 stage. Under Suryakumar Yadav’s leadership, India secured a spot in the semifinals with a five-wicket win over West Indies, with Sanju Samson’s unbeaten 97 playing a crucial role in the victory.
England, the two-time champions, have also performed well in the tournament, topping their Super 8 group with three wins. Led by Harry Brook, the team aims to maintain their momentum against the defending champions in the upcoming clash.
