Two additional suspects have been apprehended by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) in connection with the NEET-UG 2026 paper leak case. This brings the total number of arrests to 13 individuals. The newly arrested individuals are Dr. Manoj Shirure, a doctor from Latur, and Tejas Harshadkumar Shah, a physics faculty member at Abhang Prabhu Medical Academy (APMA) in Pune.
Dr. Shirure allegedly aided three students, including the son of a coaching center owner implicated in the scam, in obtaining Chemistry questions from P.V. Kulkarni, described as the mastermind behind the leak. On the other hand, Tejas Harshadkumar Shah received leaked Physics questions from another arrested suspect, Manisha Havaldar. The CBI is actively investigating the chain of events and the conspiracy involved in the case.
The CBI initiated the investigation on May 12 following a complaint from the Ministry of Education’s Department of Higher Education regarding the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak. Special teams were promptly assembled, leading to searches at 49 locations nationwide and the seizure of incriminating documents, laptops, and mobile phones. The agency emphasized its commitment to conducting a thorough and unbiased investigation.
