Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed delight at the global interest in Indian dance forms after watching five Italian women perform Kuchipudi, Bharatanatyam, and Kathak to welcome him in Rome. The performance, called ‘Trigalbandi’, featured artists Svamini Atmananda Giri, Martina Meenakshi Argada, Lucrezia Maniscotti, Valeria Vespaziani, and Rosella Fanelli, showcasing the diverse Indian cultural heritage.
Martina Argada, one of the artists, mentioned that PM Modi praised their performance, and they were grateful to the Indian Embassy in Rome for the opportunity. Rosella Fanelli, a Kathak artist, described the experience as very nice and expressed hopes of meeting PM Modi in India in the future.
During his visit to Italy, PM Modi also toured the historic Colosseum in Rome with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni. The Colosseum, completed in 80 AD, is the largest ancient amphitheatre, known for hosting gladiatorial contests and public spectacles, accommodating up to 80,000 spectators.
Italian PM Meloni warmly welcomed PM Modi to Italy, emphasizing their strong bond. PM Modi, in turn, shared his anticipation for discussions with Meloni to enhance the India-Italy friendship, following their dinner meeting and visit to the Colosseum.
