The High Commissioner, Pranay Verma, welcomed a delegation of newly appointed Directors of IBCCI on April 16, 2026. IBCCI, with over 500 member companies, focuses on enhancing bilateral trade, investment, and business ties between India and Bangladesh.
The Indian High Commission praised IBCCI for its role in strengthening economic ties between the two countries. Emphasizing the need to capitalize on the geographical proximity for economic benefits, the High Commissioner urged IBCCI to foster future-oriented economic collaborations. He highlighted the potential for India and Bangladesh to lead regional economic integration and develop resilient supply chains.
Discussions during the session included recent advancements in bilateral economic engagement, such as new mechanisms for trade settlement in Indian Rupees and infrastructure enhancements at key Land Customs Stations to facilitate smoother cross-border trade. Both sides expressed a shared commitment to exploring new avenues of cooperation and enhancing the economic partnership between India and Bangladesh.
