Indian Ministry of External Affairs’s Secretary, East, P. Kumaran, recently toured Ta Prohm Temple and Angkor Wat Temple in Siem Reap, Cambodia. The Archaeological Survey of India is actively involved in the restoration and conservation efforts at Ta Prohm Temple, with two phases completed and the third phase in progress. Angkor Wat Temple, a significant ancient temple complex in Cambodia, holds a shared civilizational heritage between India and Cambodia.
Secretary P. Kumaran also explored the Mekong-Ganga Cooperation Asian Traditional Textile Museum in Siem Reap, showcasing textile traditions from the region. During a meeting with a Cambodian delegation, discussions revolved around enhancing cooperation in trade, investments, heritage conservation, and development partnerships. India and Cambodia maintain strong bilateral relations, with a focus on mutual cooperation in various sectors under India’s ‘Act East’ policy and ASEAN framework.
