Indian Naval Sail Training Ship INS Sudarshini has docked in Boston to participate in the ‘Parade of Sails’ at Sail Boston 2026, alongside tall ships from over 20 nations. The ship’s arrival in Boston follows its involvement in the Sail4th250 celebrations in New York, continuing its journey to showcase India’s maritime heritage and goodwill. Consul General of India in Boston, Shri Raghuram Sastry, boarded the ship for the Grand Parade of Sails and ceremonial entry into Boston, highlighting Lokayan2026’s mission.
INS Sudarshini, representing India, took part in the International Naval Review 250 and SAIL250 festivities in New York, commemorating the USA’s 250th independence anniversary. The ship’s voyage to Boston is part of the Indian Navy’s initiative to promote maritime friendship and cooperation globally. The Ministry of Defence noted the ship’s successful port call in New York on July 8, marking a significant milestone in the ongoing Lokayan 2026 transoceanic expedition.
During its stay in Brooklyn, INS Sudarshini served as a floating Ambassador of India, welcoming over 1,000 visitors on board, including members of the Indian diaspora and maritime enthusiasts. The ship’s participation in the Parade of Sail, sailing past iconic landmarks like the Statue of Liberty, showcased India’s rich maritime heritage.
