The Indian Olympic Association bid farewell to India’s contingent for the Commonwealth Games 2026 in a grand ceremony. The official ceremonial and competition kit for Team India during the Games in Glasgow from July 23 to August 2 was unveiled. The event gathered athletes, coaches, support staff, dignitaries, and partners as Team India set off for Scotland aiming for a successful campaign.
Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Union Minister of Youth Affairs & Sports, emphasized India’s commitment to nurturing a world-class sporting ecosystem under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. He encouraged athletes to compete fearlessly and uphold the spirit of sportsmanship. Dr. P.T. Usha, President of the Indian Olympic Association, commended the athletes for their hard work and sacrifice, expressing pride in their representation of Indian sporting values at the Games.
Her Excellency Lindy Cameron, British High Commissioner to India, extended her best wishes to Team India for the upcoming Games in Glasgow. She highlighted the significance of the Commonwealth Games in showcasing athletic excellence and fostering ties between the UK and India. The ceremony included the official unveiling of the kit, a ramp walk by athletes, interactions with Commonwealth Games medallists, and addresses by senior dignitaries.
The official Commonwealth Games 2026 kit, designed by Aaquib Wani and developed by JSW Sports, is inspired by ‘Invisible Trajectories’. The design symbolizes the relentless pursuit of greatness by Team India through intricate visual patterns reflecting athletic movement. Led by Chef de Mission Rohit Rajpal and Deputy Chef de Mission Ravi Bengani, the contingent of 124 competitors, including able-bodied and para-athletes, will compete in 10 disciplines at the Games in Glasgow.
