An Indian parliamentary delegation recently visited Kongsberg Satellite Services (KSAT) in Tromso as part of a Knowledge Exchange Tour organized by the Royal Norwegian Embassy and UN Women India. Rajya Sabha MP Sasmit Patra, part of the delegation, highlighted the importance of satellite technology in maritime security and environmental monitoring during the visit. The discussions emphasized the use of space-based data for global challenges and the potential for enhanced cooperation between Norway and India in space technology and sustainable development.
The delegation also toured the Fram Centre in Norway, engaging in conversations about climate change, Arctic governance, and sustainable polar management with the Research Director at the Norwegian Polar Institute. Dr. Nalan Koc, Research Director at the Norwegian Polar Institute, stressed the significance of science in protecting Arctic ecosystems and addressing climate challenges. The visit aimed to foster a deeper understanding of Arctic ecosystems and climate issues.
Member of Parliament Sribharat Mathukumilli shared insights from the delegation’s visit to Polaria, focusing on Arctic ecosystems and climate challenges. The delegation interacted with the Arctic Council to discuss regional cooperation and sustainability efforts. Additionally, they met with the Norwegian Seafood Council at Kystens Hus to explore sustainable fisheries, innovation, and global seafood markets, underscoring the importance of responsible seafood practices.
