All three Indian women competing in the 50m rifle 3 positions event at the ISSF World Cup in Granada, Spain, failed to advance past the qualification stage. Surabhi Bharadwaj Rapole and Anjum Moudgil finished in 18th and 19th place, each scoring 587, while Ayushi Podder secured the 27th spot with a score of 585. The qualification cut-off was at 589 points.
In the men’s 25m rapid-fire pistol event, Ankur Goel led the Indian contingent with a score of 289 in the first stage precision round. Olympians Vijayveer Sidhu and Neeraj Kumar followed with scores of 287 and 282, respectively. The top eight shooters will progress to the final after the second rapid-fire qualification stage on Saturday.
Saturday’s competitions include the women’s 10m air pistol finals, where Indian hopes rest on Palak, Sainyam, and Meenu Pathak. India has clinched one gold medal so far in the Granada World Cup leg. Notably, Divya TS finished fourth in the women’s 25m pistol event, while Gajanan Khandagale made a commendable debut, securing fifth place in the men’s 10m air rifle event.
In the women’s 25m pistol final, China’s Xiao Jiaruixuan claimed gold after a tiebreaker with her compatriot Kong Jieru. Paris Olympics bronze medalist Camille Jedrzejewski secured the bronze, narrowly beating India’s Divya. Rhythm Sangwan also put up a strong performance, finishing seventh in the women’s 25m pistol event.
