Indian stock exchanges BSE and NSE have announced that trading will be operational on February 1, a Sunday, due to the presentation of the Union Budget 2026-2027. The markets will open for pre-market trading from 9 am to 9:08 am, followed by regular trading hours from 9:15 am to 3:30 pm.
The National Stock Exchange (NSE) stated that a live trading session will be conducted on February 1 in line with the standard market timings of 9:15 am to 3:30 pm. Additionally, both the equity segment and F&O and commodity derivatives will be available for trading on the Budget Day.
In a separate circular, the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) informed that trading in T+0 Settlement Session and Auction Session for settlement default will not take place on Sunday, February 1, 2026. Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman is scheduled to present the Union Budget at 11 am on the same day.
The upcoming Union Budget presentation marks a unique occurrence as it will be the first time since 2000 that the budget is presented in Parliament on a Sunday. The Budget Session of Parliament is set to begin on January 28 and will extend until April 2, with a break between February 13 and March 9.
