Gurindervir Singh, the national record holder in men’s 100m, will lead the 29-member Indian team selected by the Athletics Federation of India (AFI) for the second Asian Relays Championships in Shangyu, China, on June 20 and 21.

India secured the hosting rights for the third edition of the Asian Relays Championships during the Asian Athletics Association Council Meeting in Hong Kong. The event is set to take place in Chandigarh.

The Indian team, under the guidance of AFI president Bahadur Singh, will participate in all six relay events in China. This competition serves as a platform for athletes to demonstrate their skills at the continental level and offers sports enthusiasts the chance to witness top athletes in action on home turf.

The competition in China will feature men’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays, along with women’s 4x100m and 4x400m relays. Moreover, the Indian contingent will also engage in the mixed 4x100m and 4x400m relays.

Gurindervir Singh made history by setting a new national record in the men’s 100m event, clocking an impressive 10.09 seconds at the Federation Cup in Ranchi. He surpassed the previous record by 0.06 seconds, previously held by Animesh Kujur.

The Indian team roster for the Asian Relays Championships includes athletes for various relay events, showcasing a mix of talent across different categories.
