The Indian cricket team, captained by Shreyas Iyer, has left Chennai International Airport for Ireland and England to participate in a white-ball series commencing on June 26. The team is set to engage in two T20Is against Ireland, followed by a series of five T20Is and three ODIs against England. This series in Ireland will mark India’s first T20 matches since their victory in the T20 World Cup earlier this year.
The squad traveling includes the young batting prodigy Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, who at 15 years and 71 days, has become the youngest player to be selected for the Indian men’s cricket team, surpassing a record held by Sachin Tendulkar for 36 years. Additionally, uncapped fast bowler Prince Yadav has earned his maiden senior T20 call-up after an impressive performance in the Indian Premier League.
Initially, Mohammed Siraj was part of the squad but was later replaced by Prasidh Krishna. Noteworthy additions to the team are seam-bowling all-rounder Harshit Rana, who is returning from a meniscus tear surgery, and leg-spinner Ravi Bishnoi. Following the Ireland leg of the tour, the same team will head southwest to face England in a five-match T20I series from July 1 to 11, followed by three ODIs from July 14 to 19.
Shubman Gill will lead the ODI squad, with Shreyas Iyer as his deputy. The upcoming ODI series will witness the comeback of Virat Kohli, the prolific batsman, who missed the recent ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury sustained during IPL 2026. However, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has stated that Kohli’s participation is contingent on fitness clearance.
