Indian tennis players had a mixed day at the 10th Bengaluru Open. Dhakshineswar Suresh and Manas Dhamne advanced to the Quarter-Finals with hard-fought three-set victories. However, former champion Sumit Nagal exited after a tough battle against second seed Harold Mayot.
Mayot saved seven match points in a grueling three-set match against Sumit Nagal. Despite Nagal’s efforts, Mayot managed to secure the victory after a match filled with momentum swings and physical endurance. The intense battle lasted three hours and nine minutes, showcasing the players’ determination and skills.
In another match, Suresh overcame Felix Balshaw in a dramatic three-set encounter. The 25-year-old displayed his prowess with big serves and solid baseline play. Balshaw fought back strongly in the second set, but Suresh’s resilience and strategic play led him to victory in a tie-break.
Meanwhile, 18-year-old wildcard Dhamne impressed the home fans by defeating Kazakhstan’s Beibit Zhukayev. Dhamne’s steady performance, sharp movement, and anticipation skills helped him secure a hard-fought win. Despite Zhukayev’s strong serves, Dhamne maintained control and consistency to clinch the victory.
Top seed Pedro Martinez and other players from Kazakhstan, Germany, Czechia, and France also secured wins to advance to the Singles Quarter-Finals. In the doubles draw, Indian pairings and other top seeds also progressed to the last eight, showcasing a competitive day of tennis at the Bengaluru Open.
