India’s Ambassador to China, Vikram Doraiswami, began his new role by honoring Mahatma Gandhi at the Jintai Art Museum in Chaoyang Park. Accompanied by the Museum’s Curator, Mr. Yuan Xikun, Doraiswami also paid respects to Gurudev Rabindranath Tagore at the Embassy. He recently arrived in Beijing to assume his duties as India’s Ambassador to China.
On April 30, Doraiswami received his credentials from President Droupadi Murmu for the ambassadorial position in China. China has welcomed Doraiswami’s appointment, expressing anticipation for his positive contributions to enhancing bilateral relations. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has affirmed its readiness to support Doraiswami in his new role.
Having served as the High Commissioner of India to the United Kingdom, Doraiswami brings a wealth of diplomatic experience to his new post. Fluent in Chinese, French, and some Korean, he had previously spent time at the Indian Embassy in Beijing early in his career. Doraiswami’s appointment underscores the importance of diplomatic ties between India and China.
