India’s Ambassador to Japan, Nagma Malik, met Senate President Sekiguchi Masakazu at the National Diet building in Tokyo. They discussed enhancing bilateral relations between the two countries. The Ambassador also toured the National Diet Building and admired its intricate construction and delicate decorations.
Both houses of the Japanese legislature, collectively known as ‘the Diet’, convene in this building. Ambassador Malik paid a courtesy call on Sekiguchi Masakazu to exchange views on further strengthening the bilateral ties. The Indian Embassy in Japan highlighted the significance of parliamentary cooperation in supporting the democracies of India and Japan.
Earlier, Ambassador Malik engaged in discussions with Nagasaki City Mayor Shirosuke Suzuki to bolster the exchange and cooperative relations between India and Nagasaki City. Additionally, the Ambassador met Japan’s Deputy Minister for Foreign Affairs Hiyoshi Takehiro on June 8. They assessed recent high-level exchanges and deliberated on strategies to enhance bilateral relations.
Japanese Foreign Minister Toshimitsu Motegi recently visited India for the Japan-US-Australia-India Foreign Ministers’ Meeting. During the visit, he also paid a courtesy call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi. Both countries affirmed their commitment to collaborating on economic growth, innovation, and economic security. They pledged to work together to achieve tangible outcomes in these areas.
