India’s economic strength and growth potential were lauded by experts at the World Economic Forum’s Annual Meeting of the New Champions in Dalian, China. Mirek Dušek, Managing Director of the World Economic Forum, expressed confidence in India’s economic future, highlighting its significant global contribution and rapid growth. He emphasized the country’s crucial role in driving global economic growth and predicted continued strong growth for the Indian economy in the coming years.
The Summer Davos event convened innovators, technology leaders, policymakers, and business executives worldwide to collaborate and address global challenges. Dušek underscored the transformative potential of emerging technologies like artificial intelligence, advanced manufacturing, and digital platforms in boosting productivity and supporting global economic growth.
Professor Rattan Lal, a Padma Shri awardee and distinguished university professor at The Ohio State University, emphasized the pivotal role of agriculture in India’s economic expansion. Lal projected India’s ascent to the world’s third-largest economy, with agriculture playing a significant part in this growth trajectory. He stressed the importance of enhancing soil health and promoting sustainable land management practices to boost agricultural productivity.
Furthermore, Lal highlighted the transformative impact of emerging technologies on Indian agriculture. He noted that artificial intelligence and digital tools could revolutionize soil testing, making it faster, more affordable, and accessible for farmers. These technologies empower farmers to make informed decisions, ultimately enhancing crop productivity and sustainability.
