India’s High Commissioner to Kenya, Adarsh Swaika, met with Kenya’s National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula in Nairobi to discuss enhancing parliamentary exchanges and bolstering bilateral relations through Friendship Groups. Swaika presented a letter from Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla to Wetang’ula, formalizing the establishment of the India–Kenya Parliamentary Friendship Group in the Indian Parliament.
The discussions focused on deepening India-Kenya parliamentary engagement and fostering bilateral ties through the Friendship Groups. Also in attendance were Convenor of the Parliamentary Friendship Group for India in the Kenyan Parliament, Hon. MP David Ouma Ochieng, and Indian-origin Hon. MP Rahim Dawood.
During another meeting, Swaika engaged with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports, Salim Mvurya, exploring avenues to enhance cooperation in youth engagement, sports partnerships, and the creative economy. The talks encompassed capacity building, talent exchange, and skilling initiatives to strengthen collaboration.
Swaika also held discussions with Kenya’s Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Kipchumba Murkomen, focusing on bolstering bilateral ties and enhancing cooperation across various sectors. The dialogue emphasized high-level visits, trade and investments, defense and security cooperation, capacity building, training, and robust people-to-people connections, with a particular emphasis on security matters and capacity building.
