India’s organized live events sector, valued at Rs 145 billion in 2025, is projected to grow at 10% to Rs 196 billion by 2028, making it the highest growth segment in the media and entertainment industry. The Ministry of Information & Broadcasting (MIB) has established a Live Events Development Cell (LEDC) to support this sector, with representatives from various government bodies and stakeholders.
Chanchal Kumar, Secretary of MIB, emphasized the role of LEDC in developing a strategic roadmap for the growth of India’s live events industry during the fourth LEDC meeting. He highlighted the sector’s rapid growth, which significantly contributes to job creation, tourism promotion, and economic development across related industries.
LEDC aims to elevate the concert economy as a key driver of national growth, positioning India as a global hub for live events by 2030 and creating 15-20 million additional jobs in this sector. The LEDC meeting also discussed the implementation of a single-window clearance system for live event permissions through the India Cine Hub (ICH) portal, aiming to streamline the permission process and ensure transparency and efficiency.
