Union MoS (Ind. Charge) for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh highlighted the remarkable growth of India’s startup landscape, noting a surge from around 400 startups pre-2014 to over 2 lakhs presently. Emphasizing a shift towards Tier-2 and Tier-3 cities, Singh credited government initiatives for fostering this expansion.

Singh underlined the changing narrative that startups are no longer confined to metropolitan areas, with almost half of India’s startups now originating from smaller cities, including a significant representation of women entrepreneurs. The government’s support schemes have played a pivotal role in cultivating a conducive environment for budding entrepreneurs.

During an event, a young entrepreneur shared insights into a healthcare startup focused on heart health, introducing a health supplement to combat nutritional deficiencies. Another participant, a female student, discussed her work on an agriculture-focused app aimed at enhancing rice varieties, showcasing the diverse entrepreneurial endeavors emerging across the country.

In a separate address commemorating the 10-year milestone of the Startup India Mission, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the transformative impact of the initiative, hailing it as a platform that has nurtured countless dreams and innovations. Reflecting on the evolution of India’s startup ecosystem, PM Modi highlighted the nation’s ascent to becoming the world’s third-largest hub for startups, symbolizing a decade of progress and innovation.
